Understanding Vegetarian Diets

Purpose: Help you understand the different types of vegetarian diets and discuss reasons people become vegetarian. We will discuss the nutrient needs and challenges vegetarians face as well as look at sample meals.

Objectives: By the end of this training module, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the different types of vegetarian diets.

  • Identify the vitamins and minerals lacking in vegetarian diets.

  • Plan meals that meet the needs of each diet.
