In October 2021, the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative, or IDDSI replaced the National Dysphagia Diet (NDD) in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Nutrition Care Manual. Now recognized as the best practice for consistency modified diets, IDDSI's focus is safety for the 590 million people worldwide living with dysphagia.
