Now is the time to make sure you and your foodservice team has a plan for emergency situations. From menus to checklists and more, use the resources below to help plan and prepare.
1. Per Regulations, healcare facilities are required to maintain an amergency stock of food, water, and supplies to enable them to be self-sustaining during an emergency. The regulations vary by state, with the minimum being 3 days. Healthcare locations should use:
1st: Perishable Items
2nd: Frozen items, unless compromised due to temperature changes
3rd: Non-perishable items and emergency supplies
2. Obtain a signed memorandum of understanding from your Foodservice Distributor highlighting contacts, commitments and responsibilities.
3. Gordon Foodservice may not be able to supply you with the recommended amount of Water needed during an emergency situation. Please ensure you have an alternative vendor set up. General guidelines specify having a supply of 1 gallon per person per day for cooking purposes, plus 2 quarts per person per day for drinking.
4. Have a plan in place for Equipment Needs, such as backup refrigeration, with a local refridgerated truck company and a source of fuel for generators.
5. If Gordon Food Service cannot provide you with all of the Food & Supplies needed during an emergency situation, be prepared with a backup plan. Gordon Food Service offers a variety of sample Emergency menus.
